Costco has earned its customers loyalty so much so that some people only shop at Costco. Fans of the wholesaler refuse to ever share a word of criticism of the giant company that has locations across the country. While Costco sells products from many different companies and brands, its own Kirkland Signature label has many fans all its own. There are not many retailers with store brands that have as much fame, let alone popularity as their national brand rivals.

And while no die-hard Costco shopper would ever share this information with their followers, there is a hidden truth about this brand that few people know. Kirkland Signature products are not manufactured by Costco, but by other companies that lurk behind the scenes and have massive factories that are willing to slap Costco’s brand label onto the packaging.

This process is very common. There’s a reason that some store-brand batteries act very similarly to Duracell or Energizer batteries (more on this below) – that’s because they’re the same product with a different label. Now, we are able to provide you with insider information regarding the companies that really produce the products in the Kirkland Signature line of products.

Websites have claimed for years that Kirkland Signature Dog Food is not manufactured by Costco but by Diamond Pet Foods, which also has the name Schell and Kampeter Inc. Although it is hard to prove that the Kirkland Signature Dog Food is really the same product that you can buy from Diamond Pet Foods at a higher price, there is evidence to support this relationship, including a 2012 recall of Diamond Pet Foods that included the Costco variety.

If you enjoy Kirkland Signature’s coffee products, then you are probably a fan of Starbucks. And if you’re not a fan of Starbucks, you’re about to be shocked. It has been confirmed that Starbucks produces the coffee for Costco and lets them slap on a stamp that says, “Custom roasted by Starbucks.” These include the two-and-a-half pound bags of Kirkland’s Signature House Blend Medium Roast, Espresso Blend Dark Roast, and Decaf House Blend Medium Roast.

In the past, Kirkland Signatures Infant Formula seemed to use Similac from Abbott Laboratories but has since shifted to Perrigo. Abbott started producing the baby formula product for Costco back in 2001, but the relationship came to an end sometime in the intervening years. Now, Perrigo flaunts their relationship with Costco on their website.

If you’ve ever avoided buying store brand batteries, you should think twice about stepping over Kirkland Signature packs. Since Costco’s generic batteries are created by battery produce whose products are “trusted everywhere,” it should come as no surprise that Duracell is pumping out batteries for the wholesaler.

Hearing aids are not cheap, and Sonova products are no exception. But if you’re looking to save money on your purchase of hearing aids, you might as well hop over to Costco because you can buy the new Kirkland Signature (KS9) 9.0 Digital Hearing Instruments in a variety of colors. These products have the same technology as those offered by Sonova.
